Mt. Hood Wildfire Ready Homeowners Workshop

On May 19, 2024, 69 residents attended the workshop and barbecue hosted by Welches Middle School.

Goals:

  1. Increase participant understanding of principles and

    techniques that can be used to reduce risk in the home

    ignition zone (HIZ) and preparation for wildfire evacuations.

  2. Increase participants’ skills at assessing vulnerabilities in

    the HIZ via a self-assessment and ability to take actions to

    reduce structure ignition potential on their own property.

  3. Increase partner understanding of the needs and assets of

    local residents related to wildfire preparedness.

  4. Strengthen relationships between Mt. Hood Corridor

    Wildfire Partnership partners and community members to encourage future partnerships, coordination, and skill- building.
